Hartford Chorale Music Director to Conduct Messiah

Due to a personal family emergency, HSO Music Director Carolyn Kuan will not conduct the Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Handel’s Messiah this Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 7:30 pm at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. She will be replaced by Hartford Chorale music director Richard Coffey for this performance.

Maestro Coffey has conducted the HSO in the past, including three Messiah performances at the symphony’s invitation (2005, 2007, and 2012). In 2007, Coffey received the Hartford Symphony’s Major Achievement Award, “in recognition of his outstanding and inspiring artistic leadership of the Symphony’s two major choral partners, CONCORA and The Hartford Chorale.” This performance will feature guest soloists Rochelle Bard, Daniella Mack, Matthew Grills, and Lester Lynch.
