The Hartford Chorale and the GMChorale, in preparation for our May 4 performance of the oratorio Letter from Italy, 1944, offer a series of Community Conversations:

Thursday, February 16, 2017 – Documentary Screening: “Letter from Italy, 1944: A New American Oratorio” followed by Conversation with Director & Filmmaker, Emmy Award-winner Karyl Evans. Open to the public free of charge.

Thursday, March 2, 2017 – Lecture: “Mental Health, the Media, and the U.S. Veteran: Historical Perspectives on PTSD/Military” by Dr. John H. Warner, Avalon Professor of the History of Medicine, Yale University. Open to the public free of charge.

Lecture: “Looking at PTSD,” Dr. Jason DeViva, Clinical Psychologist with VA Connecticut Healthcare’s PTSD and Anxiety Disorders Program; Assistant Professor, Yale School of Medicine

April 1 – May 30, 2017 –Exhibition: “Letter from Italy, 1944: Original Sources,” photos, letters, 10th Mountain Division artifacts, poetry and scores used in the oratorio’s creation; from the Meneely Collection; Open to the public free of charge.

April 20, 2017 – Presentation: “Letter from Italy, 1944: a Musical Moment” by Jack Anthony Pott, tenor lead soloist and Joseph D’Eugenio, Production Director, as part of the morning program, Musical Club of Hartford. Open to the public free of charge.
