Attached is a flyer for our Christmas concert. please share with your friends and on your social media pages. I will have printed physical copies for anyone wanting to hang a flyer in your favorite breakfast place, or on the bulletin board in your choir room or churches. This concert is free to the public, with an invitation to bring a non-perishable food item to support the Cathedral Community Center in providing food, clothing, and housewares to those in need.

Our committees are always hard at work– seating charts, fundraising, planning social events, marketing our concerts– there’s always a “buzz” of activity behind the scenes!! From The Artistic Director:
Dear Chorale,
Wonderful start on the John Rutter Magnificat this past Monday! I think you can already see the power and beauty in our first pass through that music, as well as those places that you will need to give special attention to. Next week Monday we will continue with a deeper dive into the Rutter, as well as return to “Ballad of the Brown King.” I’ll also have copies of the three Christmas carols that we will be doing: O Come All Ye Faithful, The First Noel, Hark the Herald Angels Sing. These are the same arrangements we sang the last couple of years.
As I said on Monday, my thanks and congratulations to all of you for a wonderful concert last week Saturday with the Brahms Requiem. I was very pleased with our sound, and the acoustics of the space were quite well suited to us. The feedback from audience members, as well as Maestro Jonathan Colby were extremely positive. Though vocally demanding, this is a major work that is such a good fit for our ensemble, and I look forward to any opportunity we may have to do it again in the future!

Saturday was a performance to be proud of! I heard nothing but glowing reviews. And thank you all for showing up ready to go on Monday. We are on to our next adventure! As Sarah mentioned on Monday, we have raised enough money to offer the Christmas concert free of charge. This will be our gift to the community. Now that we’ve gotten a taste of the music, it’s time to spread the word! Let’s fill the Cathedral.

Thank you very much to so many of you who have supported the Chorale this year financially through your participation in our fundraisers, purchase of or referral for program ads, and gifts to our annual fund. As we near the close of the calendar/tax year(!), please consider a gift to our annual fund, which supports our general operations (i.e., “keeping the lights on”–salaries, benefits, office rental, etc.). Anyone can make a gift easily and safely online here. If your employer offers a match, please do so by contacting your company representative.

From Education and Outreach: Christmas Toy Drive!
3rd Annual Musical Toy Drive collections start this Monday.
The E&O Committee is asking your help to provide new toys for the young future musicians at Hartford’ s Women’s League Child Development Center. https://www.womensleaguecdc.org. The Women’s League Child Development Center is the largest single-site early education center in Greater Hartford. They enroll infants through preschoolers and they are thrilled to receive new musical toys for their preschoolers, so we’re asking for toys appropriate for children ages 3 through 6. Their total preschool enrollment is 80, so let’s see if we can’t provide a new toy for each preschooler this Christmas.
We will be collecting toys on 3 Mondays, beginning November 17 through December 1. Thanks for your contributions!

NV theater department and the NVCC foundation will be putting on a performance of Jesus Christ superstar. We open November 21st at 7:30 pm and have shows on November 22 at 2:00 and 7:30 pm and a final showing on November 23 at 2:00 pm. Its being preformed in the lovely main stage theater at 750 chase parkway, Waterbury ct. 06708. Ticket link below.
What’s the buzz? The first musical by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber to be produced for the professional stage, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 50 years. A timeless work, the rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire.
