Special Message to Membership – Concert Performance Notes – October 18, 2024
1. Overall they sound quite good, I am excited to hear our two ensembles together.
2. The conductor is pretty clear, and I believe will be easy to follow. However, as I mentioned in rehearsal, do not expect him to give you exact cut offs. Instead, do everything we practiced with exact precision.
3. Some of his tempos in the Beethoven are a little bit slower than we practiced. But his prestissimo right before the end is a little bit faster.
4. His tempo for the Serenade is definitely slower than we practiced. Even with the tempo being slower, he still takes some stretching liberties with ends of phrases, so please keep an eye on him.
5. When you arrive, park in the south end parking lot, which is near the backstage entrance of the auditorium. I will put a sign on the door.
6. Rather than having us sit in the audience for the first part of rehearsal, the conductor wants us on the risers right away. We will begin with movement four of the Beethoven, and then do the Vaughan Williams. His plan is to simply run through them.
7. Thank you to everyone who pointed out the issues with the standing chart for the risers. I have made the appropriate changes to it, and we have also lost a few more singers. I will have a new version at the dress rehearsal.
8. When you arrive, please come into the seating area of the auditorium. We will lineup there, and then make our way on stage in order.
See you soon!
Jack
