Hartford Chorale’s The Music of David Hurd and Margaret Bonds Concert is Available to Stream Online!
Hartford Chorale, in collaboration with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, presented The Music of David Hurd and Margaret Bonds on February 24, 2023.
The concert included the Connecticut premiere of David Hurd’s In Honor of Martin and Margaret Bonds’s Credo, with text by W.E.B. Du Bois. Long overlooked by music historians and publishers because of her gender and skin color, the music of Margaret Bonds is a powerful glimpse into one of the most important Black composers of the 20th century. The Chorale was joined by soloists Jolie Rocke and Marques Jerrell Ruff, along with members of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and members of the Harlem Chamber Players.
