Message from the Music Director
Dear Chorale,
We have had two strong rehearsals this week in preparation for Saturday, with one more remaining. With each successive rehearsal I feel that we are “checking things off the list“ with respect to mastering this music. Your sound is glorious, and much like the February concert, with each Rehearsal I am hearing more moments of amazing musicality because of your own confidence in what you’re doing. I thank you for all of the work you have done so far, and for the work yet to be done!
This Friday our final rehearsal will be in three 45-minute chunks, and will go as follows:
7:00-7:45 – rehearse/fix what needs fixing
7:45-8:00 – BREAK
8:00-8:45 – Run 1st half in order
8:45-9:00 – BREAK
9:00-9:45 – Run 2nd half in order
(Including organ pieces)
Within each half, we will also practice the walking off and walking on portions.
I am grateful to the EC for allowing concert dress modifications because of the heat. I encourage all of you to stay hydrated, and have plenty of water with you.

Message from the President
Dear Hartford Chorale,It is astonishing to think that our final concert of the season is upon us. It is a momentous concert in so many ways. With this concert, it will be our first full in-person season since 2018-2019. It’s Jack’s first concert since his appointment at Music Director. It’s Emily and Sarah’s first year in their respective roles. And, it’s our first time back at Immanuel since the start of the pandemic. There is a lot to celebrate about.This concert is also in memory of our dear friend, Greg Benoit. I think of Greg all the time. He was an incredible board member. He served on every committee, whether or not he was asked. He cracked the most groan-worthy dad jokes. I miss him dearly. His family will be at the concert. So let’s make them and Greg proud.Thank you for all that you do. Choral music is our identity and we carry a song with us wherever we go. I look forward to an afternoon where we share our passion with our community. Let’s give them the best choral experience of their lives!I will see you all tomorrow.Lalitha.

It has been wonderful to listen to you all at rehearsals this week. You sound absolutely amazing and I know that Saturday’s concert will be a success! A few things to keep in mind over the next few days…
Final Production Week Call Times:
Friday, May 12th — 6:45 PM
Saturday, May 13th (Concert Day!) — 2:30 PM
Parking on the day of the concert. Please park at 43 Woodland St.(just down the street), unless you are unable and need to be closer. We want to make sure there is enough parking for our patrons. If you need to park at 19 Woodland St. Please park towards the back of the lot.

A note from the social committee on our Annual Meeting:
“The hotly competitive Silver Spoon Award is back! After 4 years absence, the annual meeting is back in person and with it, the highly coveted Silver Spoon Award!!!
Dust off those recipes and get ready for this competition on June 19 at St. James in West Hartford, our regular rehearsal venue. Cocktail hour/Appetizers at 5:30, Dinner at 6:00 and the business meeting along with Dessert and the silver spoon award vote, at 7:00. Visit our website to sign up online!”

Attire Announcement
Attire options for Saturday’s concert.
The temperatures on Saturday are expected to be quite high. Since there is no air conditioning at Immanuel, the EC voted on the following options to help keep us comfortable. Many thanks to Mary Ann Haar for helping us think this through.
Men – three options
1) Full tux as always; or
2) Jackets off (the rest of the attire remains); or
3) Black button down collared shirt.
For all three options, the bottom (your tux trousers) will remain the same.
Women
1) Capes/jackets are optional.
2) Everything else (pearls and stockings) remains the same.

– Donate an item for the auctions – goods/ services/ experiences/ gift cards/ baskets, etc. – Your in-kind donation is acknowledged and helps make money for the Chorale
Become a sponsor!
– Sponsorship opportunities start at $100 for a tee-sign. $500 donations can become sponsors of our special logo golf balls for the golfers, or a round of drink tickets for all. Larger amounts help defray the costs, meaning more benefit to the Chorale! Your generosity will be displayed on the Chorale and auction websites, on the course and in the tournament program.
Volunteer!
– There are many volunteer opportunities surrounding the Golf Tournament event. Let us know if you can help in some capacity. It is always a fun day whether you are a golfer or not!
Participate in the online auction!
-The auction runs from June 12 through June 26. You’ll be surprised at all the wonderful items that are included on the online auction site. This is a great way to support the Chorale if you cannot attend the event – spread the news to others as well.

Sunday May 28th at 4pm Latin Jazz artist Harold Lopez Nussa will be performing at South Church, New Britain Connecticut.
There will be dancing in the aisles and in the streets of New Britain when jazz pianist Harold Lopez Nussa and his band come to the city! The music of pianist Harold Lopez-Nussa reflects the full range and richness of his Cuban heritage, with its distinctive combination of classical, folkloric and popular elements. His embrace of jazz improvisation is fresh, exhilarating and the personification of ritmo. HIs latest album 2020’s Te Lo Dije, received a 4 star review from Downbeat magazine and peaked at #1 on the Latin North American College & Community (NACC) radio chart.
