Auditions

Join Hartford Chorale, the region’s premier symphonic chorus, and be part of a vibrant community of dedicated singers performing major choral works with artistic excellence.

Hartford Chorale holds auditions two to three times each year and welcomes experienced singers in all voice parts. We are seeking musicians who can prepare music independently, read music confidently, and commit to a full season of rehearsals and performances.

Upcoming 2027 Winter Audition Dates:

Friday, January 15, 2027: starting at 6 pm

Saturday, January 16, 2027: starting at 11 am

Sunday, January 17, 2027: starting at 1 pm

Auditions will be held in the Parish Hall at St. James’s Episcopal Church in West Hartford.

Auditions are approximately 15 minutes in length, and an accompanist will be provided.

What to Expect:
Candidates will prepare assigned musical excerpts (see below) and participate in a brief audition that includes:

Vocal exercises to assess range and tone
Melodic memory exercises
Sight-reading and musicianship evaluation

All candidates should have prior choral experience and must provide a letter of recommendation from a conductor or teacher familiar with their work.

We invite passionate, committed singers to bring their artistry to Hartford Chorale.
