Message from the Music Director
Dear Chorale,

One year ago I was appointed as Interim Music Director for this current season, so it seems only fitting that one year later my appointment as the permanent Music Director is announced. Thank you for all of the beautiful, well wishing emails. I am so excited, and can’t wait to continue making music with you wonderful people!
Speaking of making music: I hope you all saw the email survey that went out asking for participation in a choir to sing for Greg Benoit‘s funeral service on March 18. We will be rehearsing two pieces of music on Monday, March 13 from 6:30 to 7:30 PM: “Irish Blessing” by Phillip Stopford, and an arrangement of “Here I Am Lord”. In both cases, singers from the church choir there will be joining us. Jim Barry will be accompanying us. Call time for the day of the funeral is 10 AM. I do hope many of you will be able to participate in this beautiful tribute/service for Greg.
As for the upcoming King of Instruments concert, edit masters are almost complete, as well as the information document for you. Hopefully I can get them in the hands of our webmaster by Sunday. In the mean time, here’s a link to a Spotify playlist of music for the entire program – enjoy!

CONCORA
Dear Friends and Family,
Hear ye, hear ye: 50th Anniversary Concert! South Church and CONCORA sing Faure and Mollicone to benefit The Friendship Center
I am writing to tell you about an unusual concert that Jon and I will be singing on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 4 pm at South Church in New Britain.  Sponsored by The Music Series at South Church, it combines the South Church Chancel Choir, with which we both sing, and members of CONCORA, the professional choir that I used to and Jon currently sings with.  It will feature a small orchestra with soloists and both choirs singing the beautiful Faure Requiem, and Henry Mollicone’s 2006 Beatitude Mass for the Homeless.  The concert is part of the 50th anniversary season of The Music Series and it celebrates South Church’s commitment to the New Britain community and, in particular, people who are, or are at risk of becoming, homeless. To this end, a portion of the proceeds from this concert will be donated to The Friendship Center (for information, see link below) in New Britain. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online or at the link below. Jon and I hope as many of you as possible can attend- it should be quite the event.  Those who know the Faure can attest to its classic beauty; the Mollicone is very different, with choral and solo lines that are at once challenging and meaningful- and beautiful.   Over the years Jon and I have enjoyed your support of our various musical and choral ventures and we thank you all for that.  This new venture promises not to disappoint; hope to see many of you there.  For those who cannot attend, consider making an online donation to The Music Series; you can also donate directly to the Friendship Center via their link below.
