Message to Membership, October 26, 2023

Social Committee will be providing snacks for our rehearsal on Monday, October 30th. Remember to wear your costumes!

Message from the Music Director

Dear Chorale,

I understand that you had a good rehearsal this past Monday night. My apologies that there was a pressing matter I had to attend to out of town. However, I knew you would be in very capable hands with Caroline, and I was right! Thank you for affording her your very best.

Looking ahead, we have our 7:00pm Dress Rehearsal on Friday, and the 3:00pm concert on Saturday. Be sure your music is in a BLACK folder. Please be alert to the call times (6:30pm & 1:30pm). We have not received word on where our warmup space for Saturday will be yet, but will let you know that on Friday when we are together. A reminder about Dress Rehearsals at the Bushnell: we do not do vocal warm-ups (only a little stretching), so be sure you have vocalized on your own prior to arriving. On Saturday, we will do our normal warm-up routine. I hope you have enjoyed working on these pieces, and I look forward to singing with you on stage (in costume) for this concert!

Looking a little further ahead – our first Messiah & Magnificat rehearsal is right around the corner…… HALLELUJAH! As I mentioned before, there are A LOT of edit markings. Please take advantage of the many recordings or streaming platforms where you can listen to each work (if unfamiliar).

Jack

The Music Series at South Church

Frank Zilinyi, Organ

October 29th at 4 PM

The Music Series at South Church is incredibly lucky to have an artist of Frank R. Zilinyi’s stature right under our roof! Every week, he inspires the South Church congregation and visitors with his glorious musicianship. Frank’s program will take us through the underworld with a new organ transcription of Bach’s monumental Chaconne for violin, spread out the vast expanses of space with a series of soundscapes from the film “Interstellar” and shake the rafters with Widor’s tempestuous Symphony No. 7.
